It has been a big adjustment. Over the last several years, I have been really embracing the body positivity movement and learning to love my curves and the way I look right this minute! I am in perimenopause and have found losing the weight nearly impossible at the moment, so I am trying to truly revel in my round, strong, full body as the gift that it is. My weight isn’t nearly the most important or interesting thing about me! Also, I love my green eyes, full lips, pretty golden brown hair and incredibly fair skin. Getting older is so wonderful. It’s about maximizing what’s good and feeling thankful for what you’ve been given. The very best is yet to come!

Every time my cardiologist performs an echocardiogram and I watch my heart beat, hear my blood flow, I feel gratitude. When you’ve lived with a potentially terminal illness of any kind, the smallest things become everything. I love my heartbeat.

With that said, I really like my hands and feet: they are elegant and feminine, and I actually get compliments all the time, even when I don’t do my nails. I also like my collarbone: it’s prominent, it looks amazing with tops, and it’s also a little naughty, ha, ha!

How one side of my upper lip is smaller than the other side. The big teeth that are on prominent display when a smile or laugh happens. My low nose bridge. Eyebrows that I let grow out. My dark mane with the layers, giving a slight feathery look. That I have a body that can still move and talk and hear and see and think and wonder.
